What is a Body Lift?
Here in our office, we see a lot of patients who have lost a lot of weight but don’t know what to do with the excess skin that they’re left with. Often times, losing a significant amount of weight can lead to skin laxity, and this type of skin does not respond to diet and exercise alone. In these cases, we employ a number of procedures that combine to be a full body lift. The most common areas that we focus on for this type of body lift include the abdomen, arms, back, breasts, buttocks, face, thighs and trunk of the body.
A body lift can include some or all of the following procedures: tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), panniculectomy, liposuction, thigh lifts, arm lifts (brachioplasty), breast lift (mastopexy) with or without implants, and face lifts. To determine which procedure(s) you might need, we suggest examining a variety of body lift before and after pictures. And to discuss body lift prices, our friendly and helpful staff would be happy to assist you.
How are Body Lifts Performed?
Every body lift is different, as each patient elects to have different procedures performed to target their specific problem areas. Most body lifts, however, are performed using general anesthesia. And each surgery is specifically modified by adjusting the surgical incision lines to compensate for the severe laxity of the skin. You will have a chance to discuss all of your goals and concerns with Dr. Banks during your initial consultation, and she will come up with a specialized treatment plan just for you.
How Do I Know if a Body Lift is for Me?
Most of the patients that we see for a body lift are those who have lost a significant amount of weight and are self-conscious about the loose, hanging skin that they are left with. If this sounds like you, you may be a perfect candidate for a body lift. Losing weight is not a requirement, however. Many patients are simply unhappy with the flabby areas on their body due to gravity and aging that will not respond to diet and exercise. In all instances, it’s important to maintain a stable weight at the time of surgery, and go into it with realistic expectations of the results. If you’re not sure what type of results to expect, we recommend looking through some body lift before and after pictures.
What Type of Post-Operative Body Lift Care Can I Expect?
Following your body lift surgery, you will experience some swelling and soreness, which can be minimized with pain medication prescribed by your doctor. You will also need to wear a compression garment for at least a month, which works to minimize the risk of developing any contour abnormalities. And as with most major surgeries, you should avoid any strenuous activity, such as exercise, for at least a month.

Real Patient Reviews
"I would highly recommend Dr. Nia Banks. She and her office staff are professional, yet caring about your fears and concerns. I am a 19 survivor of breast cancer. I have had two unsuccessful reconstructive surgeries and had come to the conclusion that there was no hope for me until I was referred to Dr. Banks by my primary care physician. Well, I had the surgery and I am so freaking proud of my breasts now. Dr. Banks did an amazing job and has made me feel like a woman again. I would recommend Dr. Banks for anyone needing plastic surgery!"
