Neck SmartLipo vs. Neck Lift

Smartlipo neck liftWhen it comes to looking and feeling your best, it may be hard to put your best face forward when you’re dealing with a sagging or lumpy neck.  While many people tend to focus on their waists, stomachs, arms and thighs as the primary target for fat reduction, there’s no denying that some individuals may be self-conscious about the size or shape of their neck.

Whether you’ve lost a considerable amount of weight and are having trouble spot reducing your neck, or you’re interested in tightening up your neckline, there are typically two options available to you:

  1. A neck SmartLipo procedure, or
  2. A neck lift

At Beaux Arts Institute of Plastic Surgery, board-certified cosmetic surgeon Dr. Nia Banks has a great deal of experience with helping patients achieve slim and sculpted necks.  Dr. Banks has performed both procedures on patients, and can help candidates determine which treatment option is right for them.

To help you determine whether you should opt for a neck SmartLipo procedure or a traditional neck lift, take a look at the differences and results between the two:

SmartLipo Neck Lift: SmartLipo is a unique, non-surgical laser treatment that helps eliminate unwanted fat deposits on the body.  The energy from the laser treatment liquefies the fat deposits, while stimulating collagen production levels.  The results are twofold: the fat deposits are slowly removed from the body – thus producing a slimmer neckline – while the skin tightens for a more youthful and contoured appearance.

This procedure is ideal for patients who have mild fat deposits.  This is a non-invasive, non-surgical procedure with minimal downtime, and can be performed in Dr. Banks’s office.

Traditional Neck Lift:  For patients suffering from severe fat deposits in the neck area (or severe skin sagging), a traditional, surgical neck lift procedure can help slim down and tighten the neckline.  During this procedure, Dr. Banks will make incisions in the neck area, which will allow her to remove fatty deposits and pull back neck muscles.  The procedure must be performed in the surgery center, and downtime typically involves one to two weeks.

Ultimately, Dr. Banks will help you determine which procedure is right based on your needs and desired results.  For more information about these neck lift procedures, schedule a consultation with Dr. Banks at Beaux Arts Institute of Plastic Surgery in Lanham and Bowie, Maryland (also serving the Baltimore and Washington DC areas).
